Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it under consideration by another journal (unless an explanation has been provided in the "Comments to the Editor").
  • The submission file is in one Microsoft Word (Docx, Doc)
  • References have been managed using Mendeley or other relevant reference management software.
  • The manuscript follows the latest template (2026), is 7–15 pages, and all graphs are editable (not JPG).
  • The text complies with the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines and Template.
  • Have an Ethical Publication for the manuscript of research results

Author Guidelines

A. General Requirements and Information

The minimum standard requirements of the Scientific Journal of Mechanical Engineering Kinematika must be:

  1. The manuscript is typed in Bahasa or English with Microsoft Word program,  The manuscript is written on an 7-15 page A4 paper.
  2. The article must include an abstract in English (150-250 words) and be followed by keywords (3-5 words).
  3. Use a tool such as Zotero, Mendeley, or EndNote for reference management and formatting. The citation must be in the form of in-text and the bibliographies are based on IEEE and a minimum of 15 references in the manuscript.
  4. Make sure that your paper is prepared using the Scientific Journal of Mechanical Engineering Kinematika’s template (IND, ENG). Any papers not fulfilling the requirements based on the guideline of the authors will not be processed
  5. It is now the policy of SJME Kinematika that the submitted article to this journal will be blind-peer-reviewed by at least two reviewers. Reviewers are provided 4 to 8 weeks to complete Reviewing process. The reviewers give scientific valuable comments improving the contents of the manuscript.
  6. Papers must be in good, grammatically correct English, and if your article cannot be understood, it will be rejected. If English is not your native language, you should seek the help of an English Language Editing or professional translator.
  7. When the final submission is complete and the article has been published, The Article will be followed statements on the copyright & License of Scientific Journal of Mechanical Engineering Kinematika

B. Manuscript Template

The manuscript should be prepared according to the following author guidelines in the MS Word (.docx, .doc) article template (IND, ENG).

C. Guidelines for Authors

The author should first register as an Author and is offered as a Reviewer through the following address: 
https://kinematika.ulm.ac.id/index.php/kinematika/about/submissions

The author should fulfill the form as detailed as possible where the star-marked form must be entered. After all form textbox was filled, the Author clicks on the “Register” button to proceed with the registration. Therefore, the Author is brought to the online author submission interface where Author should click on “New Submission" Cover In the Start, a New Submission section, click on “Click Here" : to go to step one of the five-step submission process”. The following are five steps in the online submission process:

  1. Step 1 - Starting the Submission: Select the appropriate section of the journal, i.e. Original Research Article, Review Article, Case Study, or Simulation Study. Thus, the author must check-mark on the submission checklists. An author should type or copy-paste Covering Letter into Letter to Editor.
  2. Step 2 – Uploading the Submission: To upload a manuscript to this journal, click Browse on the Upload submission file item and choose the manuscript document file (.doc/.docx) to be submitted, then click the "Upload" button until the file has been uploaded. Do not upload the cover letter and other supplementary files here.
  3. Step 3 – Entering Submission’s Metadata: In this step, detailed author(s) metadata should be entered, including the marked corresponding author and you can add more authors if any. After that, the manuscript title and abstract must be uploaded by copying the text and pasting it into the textbox, including keywords (should be copy-paste one by one).
  4. Step 4 – Uploading Supplementary Files: Supplementary files should be uploaded, including Covering/Submission Letter. Therefore, click on the Browse button, choose the files, and then click on the Upload button.
  5. Step 5 – Confirming the Submission: The author should final check the uploaded manuscript documents in this step. To submit the manuscript to the Scientific Journal of Mechanical Engineering Kinematika, click the Finish Submission button after the documents are true. The corresponding author or the principal contact will receive an acknowledgment by email. It will view the submission’s progress through the editorial process by logging in to the journal web address site. 

After this submission, the Authors who submit the manuscript will get a confirmation email about the submission. Therefore, Authors can track their submission status at any time by logging in to the online submission interface. The submission tracking includes the status of the manuscript review and editorial process. 

D. Revisions Of Manuscripts

Manuscripts sent back to the authors for revision should be returned to the editor. Revised manuscripts can be sent to the editorial office through the Online Submission OJS interface of Scientific Journal of Mechanical Engineering Kinematika. The revised manuscripts returned later than six months will be considered as new submissions.

E. Type Of Manuscripts

Scientific Journal of Mechanical Engineering Kinematika received articles in an original research paper, review paper, case study, Or Simulation Paper.

Research paper
An original research paper is an article that reports detailed research and is classified as primary literature. Its format includes an introduction and background problems,  methods, results, interpretation of findings, and discussion sections. 

Review paper
A review paper is an article that provides an up-to-date report on the current situation regarding important topics within the journal scope. It discusses previous developments in the topic and provides an overview of future directions. In general, a review paper is usually longer, depending on the topic being reviewed.

Case study
A case study is an article compiled by the author(s) presenting details of unique cases in the scope journal. The cases are usually those that contribute significantly to the knowledge in the field. This article is expected to discuss the signs, symptoms, diagnosis, and problem-solving. 

Simulation paper

A simulation paper is an article that presents research results based on numerical modeling and computational simulations related to mechanical engineering problems. It should clearly describe the model development, assumptions, boundary conditions, simulation procedures, validation (when applicable), and analysis of simulation results, supported by relevant discussion and conclusions.
