PENGARUH TEMPERATUR DAN WAKTU PROSES TERHADAP KUALITAS MINYAK PIROLISIS LIMBAH PLASTIK LOWDENSITY POLYETHYLENE

Abstrak

Kurangnya pemanfaatan limbah plastik menjadi penyebab penurunan kualitas lingkungan dan kesehatan. Pemanfaatan limbah plastik menjadi bahan bakar alternatif melalui metode pirolisis adalah pilihan yang tepat untuk mengurangi kuantitas limbah dan memperbaiki kualitas lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh temperatur dan waktu proses pirolisis limbah plastik lowdensity polyethylene (LDPE) terhadap kualitas minyak pirolisis. Reaktor tipe fixed batch skala laboratorium yang diatur menjadi tiga variasi temperatur 520°, 550° dan 580°C dengan waktu proses 90 dan 120 menit digunakan untuk memproduksi minyak pirolisis dari limbah plastik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa untuk memproduksi rendemen minyak pirolisis lebih dari 55% perlu meningkatkan waktu proses sebesar 30 menit pada temperatur 520°C. Sementara menaikkan temperatur proses hingga 580°C akan meningkatkan nilai densitas yang dan viskositas minyak pirolisis menjadi 823 kg/m3 dan 20 cSt. Namun nilai kalor akan menurun sebesar 4 MJ/kg; sehingga diperlukan pencampuran dengan produk biofuel lain untuk menurunkan nilai viskositasnya.
