PENGARUH KOMPOSISI LIMBAH SABUT KELAPA DAN KOTORAN SAPI TERHADAP KARAKTERISTIK BRIKET SEBAGAI BAHAN BAKAR ALTERNATIF

Abstrak

Limbah biomassa memiliki dampak yang signifikan bagi masyarakat pedesaan karena kelimpahannya, ketersediaannya, biayanya yang rendah, dan keberlanjutannya sebagai sumber energi terbarukan. Limbah tersebut dapat dimanfaatkan untuk menghasilkan briket sebagai upaya untuk mengurangi permasalahan lingkungan dan meningkatkan aspek sosial-ekonomi. Penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh komposisi kotoran sapi (KS) dan sabut kelapa (SK) serta ukuran partikel terhadap karakteristik briket, yaitu densitas, kadar air, kadar abu, dan nilai kalor. Tiga variasi campuran KS dan SK (80KS20SK, 70KS30SK, dan 50KS50SK) dengan dua ukuran partikel (40 dan 80 mesh) disiapkan pada tekanan densifikasi 10 MPa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa briket dari campuran 70KS30SK pada 80 mesh memiliki densitas sekitar 312,38 kg/m³ dan kadar air terendah, sekitar 1,98%. Ukuran partikel memengaruhi kemampuan pengikatan material dan pembentukan pori, dengan rongga yang lebih besar mengurangi densitas keseluruhan. Briket yang terbuat dari campuran 50KS50SK menunjukkan nilai kalor yang lebih tinggi dan kadar abu yang lebih rendah, jika dibandingkan dengan campuran briket lainnya, yang menunjukkan bahwa komposisi mempengaruhi kandungan energi dan produksi abu. Namun nilai kalor (13,05–14,36 MJ/kg) dan kadar abu (17,16–21,59%) pada briket belum memenuhi persyaratan SNI 1683:2021. Temuan ini menunjukkan potensi briket campuran sabut kelapa dan kotoran sapi berkontribusi dalam mengelola limbah organik yang berkelanjutan.
